When is it? 19 June (Thursday), 20 June (Friday) and 23 June (Monday)
What are Y6 Kite group doing in these 3 days? 1. Seminar / talk / workshop: provided by a specialist from the "HK Sky Kite Association" 2. Research, design and create 2D and group kites based on a study of history, technology and design, mathematics and science. 3. Test and improve your kite. 4. Outing: to fly your kite and have kite flying competition.

Unit Question: Why do we keep on trying? We will look at how can we make an effective kite using design technology. We will incorporate the Arts, Technology, Languages, Mathematics, Science and Humanities. We will be creating a Kite using materials gathered from recycling and apply the knowledge from all different subjects. We will research and design kites by looking through a variety of lenses. Design Technology Lens: How is the design of a kite connected to its function (the way it works)? Humanities/ History Lens: What roles have kite played in different culture throughout history? Mathematics Lens: How can we apply our mathematical knowledge to design an effective kite? Science Lens: How do we choose the best materials and conditions for making and flying kite?
Key concepts: Design, creativity, communication
ATL skills: Social skills (Collaboration): working in groups, accepting others, negotiating, teamwork, delegation, adapting roles, respecting others’ points of view Communication skills: presentation skills, informing others Organization skills: self-management, goal setting, keeping to deadlines Research Skills (Information literacy): accessing and organizing information Thinking skills (Transfer): generating ideas, planning, brainstorming, inquiring, outline, creative strategies making connection with the class subjects Thinking skills (Reflection): self-aware, self-evaluate, process journal

1. Click the following link, read the instructions and form your group.
2. Return your circular of field trip asap (to your class teacher or Ms Yeung). If you didn't get a hard copy from your teacher, download it here:
3. We will provide the material for at least 1 set of kite for each of you, the material are water proof. 4. Bring your own crayon or paint to decorate your Kite on Friday. 5. You are encouraged to take photo or video throughout the three days, present and share what you have learned at the end of the 3 IDU days. 6. On 19th June, go to the auditorium and we will organise you will know the final grouping and room classroom arrangement. Then we have a workshop before your split into 3 classes.
